The song is a post break up song with a difference. But not the regular sad scenes, instead it’s a carefree narration of what went wrong in the relationship and how the guy and the girl are just not good together. With the song he is putting it out there that the relationship was less than ideal for him and never had any space for himself while being in it. He described the girl as someone who controlled him for the most part. He is the one ending things and the girl is being all revoltish. So the situation is a bit funny to the guy since now he has taken control of the whole situation. The lyrics tell the story, albeit in a quirky manner.

Regarding the sound of the song, I went for a poppish vocal sound with slightly heavy guitars and a complimenting guitar solo. Overall a funky vibe was the aim along with the lyrics.
